My name is Szonja Szabó. I was born on 02.02.1978 in Tata, as a third child, healthy. At age two and a half I was diagnosed with Little-syndrome. I have had several operations and hospital treatments, but unfortunately these operations did not help. I finished middle school at the Children’s Rehabilitation Home of Tatabánya. That was also where I learned to operate computers, and I passed the exam in 1997. I took an exam in 1998 in paper processing and in flower arrangement as well. I started painting and writing with mouth at the children’s home, because it was increasingly difficult to use my hands.

At age 12 I became a member of the "Népház Fantázia” workshop of the "Jászai Mari” Theatre in Tatabánya, where my teacher was J. András Sebestyén. With his help I learned the technique /pointillism/ and the tool /marker/ that I can use to draw.

My current teacher is Krisztina Szigetvári graphic artist. As a child I won several national and international awards. Since 1994, I have been a scholarship holder of the International Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists. This way, postcards with my pictures can be published at home and in other countries of the world, the last time in South Korea.

I am also proud that my paintings have aroused the interest of the wife of the Consul of Venezuela, and I was able to pay a return visit at the Consul’s residency. The exhibition in Tata is also unforgettable for me, where Aunt Zsuzsa, wife of Árpád Göncz then-President of the Republic agreed to open the event.

Besides painting, I also like music, poems; my hobby is collecting Kinder figures and napkins. In 2003 I was introduced to boccia, a sport that can be played by the disabled as well. I am founding member of the league, and we came once in first place, once in fifth place on the national level.

I have many friends and acquaintances; I keep in touch with the outside world through them. I get the most help from my mother. Painting-related creation, exhibitions, international assemblies, and sporting competitions and training camps make my life very colorful; I consider myself a happy person.
